STEP 2: Mounting the XM Receiver
I rate the difficulty of this step as easy.
Since the installation procedure involves the use of the trailer hitch wiring harness, I recommend mounting the XM receiver box somewhere in the trunk.
Since I have a sedan, I chose to mount mine under the rear deck behind the right rear seat.
The position I chose afforded me the ability to hide all of the wiring behind the stiff carpeting in the trunk near the fuel filler emergency cable.
I was going to use large pieces of Velcro to attach the receiver to the deck underside.
However, I discovered it wasn't quite as strong as I wanted. So I purchased machine screws and some rubber grommets to cushion the box under the deck.
If you do it this way, I recommend drilling small pilot holes for your machine screws to grab into.
Also, make sure the screws aren't too long and puncture the top of the deck.
